• Aqua-cise for Arthritis
  Winneshiek Medical Center Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine offers this fun and effective program, which utilizes water to help maximize exercises that ease the pain of arthritis. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Call the Rehab Department at 563-387-3031 to register.

Winneshiek Medical Center, HAWC & Culver's are sponsoring free car seat checks on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 4:00-6:00 pm at the WMC East Entrance. Trained car seat technicians will be available to make sure your children's car seats are installed properly in your vehicle.

Winneshiek Medical Center is offering a weight management course beginning with an informational/registration session on Thursday, January 14^th.  This 10-week course will meet every Thursday thereafter from 5:00-6:00 pm on the lower level of WMC.  The course fee is $175 per person.

Winneshiek Medical Center is offering a support group for patients and their caregivers facing type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes the second Tuesday of every month from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. in conference room B located on the lower level of the medical center.  There is no charge to participate in this group; however, a brown bag meal will be available for $5 with prior request.

The Decorah Area Parkinson's Disease Support Group will meet at 1:30 p.m. at Winneshiek Medical Center in Conference Rooms B1 & B2.   All those with PD or other neurological diseases, their caregivers, and interested family and friends are welcome.  Call 563.387.3020 for more information.

As of January 1, 2010, Iowa law allows long-term care insurance companies to sell "Partnership" plans.  Jason Cooper, long-term care insurance specialist for SHIIP and the Iowa Insurance Division will present an informational program on March 10th, 11 am in Conference Room B on the lower level of Winneshiek Medical Center.  For more information, call Winneshiek Medical Center at 563.387.3036.

Winneshiek Medical Center will offer a free finger-stick blood glucose check on Tuesday, March 23 at its second annual Diabetes Alert Day clinic. Open to all members of the community, the clinic aims to promote diabetes awareness and prevention.  The clinic will be open from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. on WMC's lower level. This test can be done fasting or non-fasting.

Winneshiek Medical Center Hospice is offering a free grief support group beginning Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The six-week program meets each Tuesday and is open to the public.
