The care received by a midwife is woman and family centered, focusing on physical care as well as emotional support. Midwives listen to women and help them make informed decisions about their health care, according to their own cultural values and personal preferences.

Midwives are well known for providing care during pregnancy and childbirth, but they also provide well-woman care across the life span, from menarche through menopause. Winneshiek Medical Center offers full-time midwifery care including evaluation, assessment, treatment, and referral to a specialist, if required.
