In addition to surgical preparation and post op care, Same Day Services staff administer chemotherapy, IV fluids, blood transfusions and IV medications.

Same Day Services

Same Day Services is the department that prepares patients for their surgical procedures and facilitates their discharge. It is staffed by a team of highly skilled and compassionate nurses who help make each patient's stay as comfortable as possible.

Additional patient services available through Same Day Services include:

- Chemotherapy administration - Under the direction of your physician, Same Day Services provides local administration of most chemotherapy drugs. Winneshiek Medical Center's expanded Same Day Services area, expected to be completed in 2006, will provide an increased number of beds for chemotherapy patients.

- IV fluid replacement

- Outpatient blood transfusion

- Administration of IV medications
