Parents learn what to expect during labor and delivery, including: stages of labor, birth plans, labor positions, breathing techniques and relaxation, breast feeding, newborn care and pain control options. Delivering moms will also learn more about epidural anesthesia which is available at Winneshiek Medical Center 24 hours a day, every day.
The fee for prepared childbirth classes is $30 for 2-3 people. Participants should dress comfortably.
After 24/7 care following your delivery, you may be nervous to take your newborn home. We are here to help you get off to the right start. Begin your new journey of parenthood with information and support to care for your new baby. Parents will learn: basics of infant care, bathing, diapering, feeding, burping, car seat information, safety, immunizations and more.
The fee for baby basics classes is $20 for 2-3 people. Includes a copy of Mayo Clinic Guide to Baby’s First Year, a $22.95 value.
Producing breast milk is natural, yet the art of latching the baby onto the breast is learned. This class is taught by a certified lactation consultant and provides clear, accurate breastfeeding information for the mother. Topics include breastfeeding techniques, various positions, nipple care, tips for successful breastfeeding, breast pumps, and how to know if the baby is getting enough.
Breastfeeding Basics is free with pre-registration. Target audience is expecting moms and partners/support person.

Grandparenting 101 is a free one time session held at Winneshiek Medical Center, lower level conference rooms. Topics covered include:
