Help support WMC Hospice by contributing your time and talents

Released: 04/26/16

More than one million people and their families are cared for by hospice each year, many with the support of hospice volunteers. Winneshiek Medical Center Hospice is seeking volunteers to support patients and caregivers. A free training will take place at WMC throughout the month of May.

Volunteers provide important services to hospice and the patients they serve. Whether it is providing companionship to a person in the final months or weeks of life, offering support to family members and caregivers, or assisting with office work, the contributions of volunteers are essential to the important work provided by WMC Hospice. “Our volunteer training program includes modules on spirituality, grief, communication, stress management, comfort, and support,” says Nancy Haberichter, director for WMC Home Health and Hospice.

This training session will help prepare you for the essential role you may play with our patients and families. The training takes every Tuesday from 2:00pm – 5:00pm for 5 consecutive weeks in May. To register for the training program please contact Karen Nielson at 563-387-3024.
