John Vogel, D.O., joins Winneshiek Medical Center Decorah Clinic
Winneshiek Medical Center and Mayo Clinic Health System are pleased to welcome John Vogel, D.O., to Decorah Clinic. Dr. Vogel will begin seeing patients at Winneshiek Medical Center in August of 2019.
A family medicine and obstetrics physician, Dr. Vogel provides full-spectrum primary care to patients of all ages. His special interests include: obstetrics, lifestyle medicine, diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol. He comes to the area from California, serving in the US military as Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Uniformed Services University and Family Medicine Faculty Physician on the Travis Air Force Base.
Dr. Vogel says, “My family and I chose to come home to Iowa from California to be closer to family. We chose Decorah for the combination of the beautiful Driftless region, the opportunity to practice full-spectrum family medicine, Mayo Clinic’s strong reputation, and most importantly, the town of Decorah’s strong community and dedication to culture, education, and wellness.”
Dr. Vogel graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, and received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University. He completed his family medicine residency at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base, California and his Faculty Development Fellowship from University of California, San Francisco.
