Winneshiek Medical Center awarded full accreditation from The Joint Commission
Winneshiek Medical Center (WMC) has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for accreditation by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in hospitals. The accreditation award recognizes Winneshiek Medical Center’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards. Accreditation covers physician services by Mayo Clinic Health System, including the clinic in Decorah and satellite clinics in Ossian and Mabel, Home Health, Hospice and Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
“Winneshiek Medical Center underwent a rigorous unannounced on-site survey in August,” says Carmen Krivachek, WMC quality improvement specialist. A team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated WMC for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management. The Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with health care experts, providers, measurement experts and patients.
