Released: 10/20/16

Winneshiek Medical Center is pleased to welcome Lydia Adams, CRNA, to the medical staff. Lydia is a certified registered nurse anesthetist who will provide general anesthesia care for surgical patients, pain management, and obstetrical anesthesia care at Winneshiek Medical Center.

Lydia received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids and her Master of Nurse Anesthesia from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine School of Health Science. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Chamberlain College. Lydia has provided anesthesia services at Mayo Clinic-Rochester since 2014.

“As a nurse anesthetist, I am able to provide comfort and care to patients in their most vulnerable state. I take my role in their anesthesia care very seriously and work with patients to make sure they are comfortable and reassured before and after a surgical procedure” says Lydia. She adds, “I enjoy following a patient throughout their entire stay at WMC. We are able to meet prior to a procedure or obstetric anesthesia care so I can understand their needs on a more personal level. I also value the importance of postoperative visits to ensure the needs of the patient were met. This supports Winneshiek Medical Center’s model of care which is seen throughout the entire team of nurse anesthetists.”

Bradley Orvis, M.D., Mayo Clinic Health System urologist and physician advisor of WMC Surgery, says, “Since coming to WMC 15 years ago, I have always been impressed with the quality of anesthesia services delivered by our CRNAs. From basic outpatient procedures to more complicated surgical procedures on high risk patients, the WMC anesthesia team delivers highly competent quality care. Being a smaller hospital, the communication between anesthesia and the surgical team is enhanced and that is essential for patient care and safety. We work together every day to provide the best outcomes for our patients.”

Lydia joins CRNAs Dean Beinborn, Christine Sims and Jessica Thesing to provide anesthesia care for surgical, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; pre- and post-operative care, and obstetrical anesthesia care, including 24/7 epidurals.
