Women’s health services will be expanding at Winneshiek Medical Center with the addition of a full time Mayo Clinic Health System gynecologist, Randall Bremner, M.D., FACOG.  Dr. Bremner will come to Decorah following a 24-year career at Covenant Clinic in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  Dr. Bremner provides gynecologic care and surgery for women of all ages, including addressing infertility concerns, alternatives to hysterectomy, bladder issues, and menopause care.

Dr. Bremner earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Iowa and his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine.  He completed his OB/GYN residency at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

“We are very pleased Dr. Bremner will be joining Mayo Clinic Health System and relocating to Decorah,” said Gretchen Dahlen, chief administrative officer, Winneshiek Medical Center.  “His experience and skills complement the services already being offered at Winneshiek Medical Center, and will provide area women with high quality specialty care, close to home.”  Steven Davis, M.D., Mayo Clinic Health System general surgeon at Winneshiek Medical Center and former colleague of Dr. Bremner said, “When I joined Mayo Clinic Health System this past August, I quickly realized Dr. Bremner would be a great fit in our community.  I’m excited to be working alongside him again and for the specialty services he will bring to our patients.”

Dr. Bremner will be the tenth surgeon on the Active Medical Staff at Winneshiek Medical Center, a team that is made up of eight Mayo Clinic Health System general and specialty surgeons and two Gundersen Lutheran general surgeons.  With the upcoming addition of Gynecology, Winneshiek Medical Center patients can receive surgical care in General Surgery; Ear, Nose & Throat; Podiatry, Orthopedics and Urology.  Three outreach ophthalmologists also perform eye surgery at Winneshiek Medical Center.

Dr. Bremner will begin seeing patients in May, 2013.
