WMC announces new chief nursing officer
Winneshiek Medical Center and Mayo Clinic Health System – Franciscan Healthcare have named Kathy Moritz, RN, MSN, CNL, to serve as the next chief nursing officer for the Decorah practice. Moritz joins the Winneshiek Medical Center leadership team to ensure WMC delivers comprehensive, quality and coordinated services that meet the needs of those being served.
Moritz comes to Winneshiek Medical Center from Mayo Clinic Health System – Franciscan Healthcare in La Crosse, WI, where she has served in a variety of nursing roles since 1991. Moritz has progressive nursing leadership experience, including as a supervisor and director of inpatient care units and day surgery/PACU. She has been in her current role as the nurse administrator for Surgical Services since 2013. Additionally, Moritz has experience as a nursing instructor for Western Technical College and Viterbo University in La Crosse, WI.

In addition to a notable record of accomplishments in nursing leadership, Kathy displays an infectious enthusiasm for her profession. She is an outstanding candidate for the position in Decorah.”

Moritz received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Northeast Iowa Community College, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Viterbo University and her Masters of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in Education from Viterbo University.

Moritz will transition into her new role in the coming weeks, succeeding Susan Heitman, who served as chief nursing officer since 2014.
