WMC announces Star, Provider of the Year

Bridgette Hensley, Psy.D., Mayo Clinic Health System psychologist at WMC Decorah Clinic will facilitate adult Anxiety and Depression Coping Skills Group Therapy beginning September 5.

Star of the Year

A Decorah Clinic nurse was named the 2017 Winneshiek Medical Center Star of the Year at WMC’s annual Staff Appreciation Celebration.

Jennifer Swart, RN, works alongside William Remington, M.D., to provide care for patients in the Ear, Nose and Throat practice.

Jennifer was selected as the 2017 Star of the Year because of her unwavering commitment to her patients and colleagues. When presenting the award, Lisa Radtke, chief administrative officer of Winneshiek Medical Center said, “Jennifer puts our Primary Value of The Needs of the Patient Come First in every aspect of a day’s work. Serving in a very busy and ever-changing area of Winneshiek Medical Center, Jennifer steps back to put on the shoes of a patient, and works with patients to discover options and solutions for care to meet their needs.”

Jennifer was nominated for the award by a co-worker. She has worked at Winneshiek Medical Center since 2013.

Provider of the Year

Winneshiek Medical Center named Bridgette Hensley, Psy.D., as the 2017 Provider of the Year. Dr. Hensley serves on the Behavioral Health team in Winneshiek Medical Center’s Decorah Clinic.

Robert Flinchbaugh, D.O., chief medical officer of Winneshiek Medical Center, presented the award. He said, “Dr. Hensley is committed to excellence and improved health outcomes, and led efforts to implement an evidence-based screening and assessment instrument for WMC to help identify and prevent someone from taking their life by suicide. Dr. Hensley focuses on the health needs in our community and uses expertise in her field to create ways to better serve our patients.”

Dr. Hensley has expertise in treating children, adolescents and adults with disorders such as trauma, depression, anxiety, and behavioral disturbances (ADHD). She also provides suicide assessment and prevention, family therapy, and couples therapy.

Dr. Flinchbaugh added, “With compassion and dedication, Dr. Hensley provides the highest level of care for some of the most wounded and vulnerable children, adolescents, and adults. WMC is fortunate to have Dr. Hensley on our team.”

Dr. Hensley earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Education from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. She earned her Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago. She joined Winneshiek Medical Center Decorah Clinic in 2013.
