WMC flags fly in honor of military men and women

Released: 11/02/16

“Most people don’t know that the American flags we raise over our medical center have flown over the Pentagon in honor of Winneshiek Medical Center and all Military men and women, past and future, for their service,” says Lisa Radtke, Winneshiek Medical Center Chief Administrative Officer.

In 2010, Rich and Carol Gaard donated the first flag that had flown over the Pentagon to honor Winneshiek Medical Center. “Since then, we’ve built a process to provide Rich with flags and he coordinates to have them flown over the Pentagon and returned to us with a souvenir certificate,” says Nick Schwartzhoff, WMC director of engineering and facilities. “We know it takes a little more time and coordination to do this, but that pales in comparison to all that our Veterans have given, and continue to give, for our freedom – we’re proud to fly the Red, White and Blue.”
