WMC honors volunteers at annual appreciation celebration
Winneshiek Medical Center honored their 130 active volunteers and members of the Auxiliary Board, Foundation Board and Board of Trustees at the “Volunteers Are Groovy” 2016 Volunteer Appreciation event held at Nob Hill.
The group heard from author and speaker Courtney Frey from Parkersburg, Iowa, who spoke on the connection between passion and purpose. She shared a poignant story from her life how a hospital volunteer, at exactly the right moment, gave her the love and compassion she desperately needed. Ms. Frey thanked our volunteers on behalf of all patients for the important work they do and the difference they make.
Karla Bakken, volunteer coordinator at WMC said to the group, “I would like to personally thank you, our volunteers, for everything that you do day in and day out at Winneshiek Medical Center. I am truly blessed to work with such great volunteers and we are doubly blessed to have you volunteer at WMC.”
Winneshiek Medical Center volunteers are present in many areas, including the information desk, Auxiliary Gift Shop, and at special events. Additionally, volunteers provide hand-crafted items for patients, help with mailings, share their gardening talents and sit on the Auxiliary Board. The following volunteers were honored for reaching service milestones in 2015:
- 100 hours: Caryl Larson and Gloria Willford
- 500 hours: Bunny Seymour, Glendalu Wuest and Ruth Fjelstad
