For the twenty-fourth year, Winneshiek Medical Center providers and staff have supported families seeking a brighter Christmas through the Giving Wreath program, coordinated with Northeast Iowa Community Action. This year, the medical center adopted five local families.

Caroline Schwickerath, D.O., Mayo Clinic Health System general surgeon at Winneshiek Medical Center, participated in the program. She says, “I like that we are helping provide for local families. We have a lot to be thankful for at WMC and to be able to give to others in need, especially at the holidays, is very special.” She adds, “The Giving Wreath offers multiple options to choose from: a doll for a young girl, a skateboard for a teenage boy, a monster truck for a little boy. Each person can pick a gift, or multiple gifts, they are excited about donating.”

Radiology staff coordinated the effort at WMC, which included distributing tags, collecting gifts and delivering them to the Northeast Iowa Community Action offices. “Our staff continue to be very generous year after year,” says Sarah Urmanski, director of Radiology. “The Giving Wreath is a heartwarming project.”
