Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation

Winneshiek Medical Center has been caring for you, your family and neighbors for close to 90 years. And we will continue to do so.

But when it comes to financing special projects to improve technology and to increase the variety of services offered locally, we need your help. The rapid changes in rural healthcare require hospitals to seek private funds for capital growth and replacement of equipment, educational opportunities for staff, the purchase of new technology and more.

The Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation is a non-profit organization with the stated purpose of soliciting and managing gifts of money and/or property to be used to help ensure continued quality health care for our region.

There are several different ways to support the Foundation, from tax-deductible gifts, such as cash, pledges, securities, life insurance and real estate, or consider participating in our newly developed Annual Fund.

We invite you to review the many ways of giving to and supporting the Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation. For additional information, feel free to contact us at foundation@winmedical.org.

Ways to Give

Winneshiek Medical Center's mission is to deliver the highest-quality health care to the people of our region, while improving technology and expanding services. This goal would not be possible if not for the generous support from our community. Following are descriptions of the many ways you can invest in the future of our community's health care.

Annual Fund
Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation offers an opportunity to give unrestricted gifts through the Annual Fund.  The Annual Fund supports patient education initiatives, technology updates, and efforts to recruit and retain knowledgeable and caring staff.  For more information on the Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation Annual Fund, contact Holly Kanengieter at 563-387-3129.

Memorial and Tribute Gift Programs
A charitable gift to the Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation is an appropriate way to pay tribute to special friends while they or living or to honor the memory of a departed loved one.

A gift in memory included in your will can extend your personal influence beyond your lifetime, while continuing to provide ongoing support for the services at Winneshiek Medical Center. Whether in sympathy, as a living memorial or in honor of a birthday or other special occasion, your gift will thoughtfully demonstrate a loving concern for all who look to Winneshiek Medical Center for care - now and in the future.

Planned Giving
The most common forms of giving are annual gifts of cash or securities. Planned gifts provide donors with a way to make larger gifts than they thought possible.

Many gift-giving tools help fulfill charitable wishes while enhancing the donor's or their loved ones' financial security. Types of planned gifts include bequests, life income gifts (such as charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts), retirement plans and life insurance.

You can also email foundation@winmedical.org to receive more information about estate planning, bequests, retirement assets and much more. Consult your personal financial planner or estate advisor for independent advice.

Gift Acknowledgement
Memorial and tribute gifts are announced by way of a special card sent to family members listing all contributors (or stating anonymity) so that they may respond if desired.

The specific gift amount is not mentioned, but a dignified and meaningful message informs the card recipient of your memorial or tribute. In addition, the names of all people honored or memorialized are printed in the appropriate edition of the Community Heartbeat newsletter, received by all community members in Winneshiek County and surrounding areas.

Wedding Favor Donations Program
Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation offers couples the opportunity to support health care at the local level through the Wedding Favor Donations Program.  In lieu of wedding favors, a donation of $200 or more is given to the Foundation, and in return, the couple receives 50 personalized table tents and 240 personalized note pads announcing the donation at the event, and a release submitted to the local newspapers.

Foundation Board

The Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation Board is comprised of community leaders who volunteer their time, knowledge, compassion and resources in toward our commitment to serving the health care needs of our patients.
