Students – Job Shadows

Shadowing the daily duties and responsibilities of our staff may help you decide if you wish to pursue a career in healthcare. Shadow experiences vary in length, but are typically 3-4 hours.

Additional hours may be available for application into a school program (such as physical therapy, radiologic technologist occupational therapy). Job shadows are available in many of our departments and will be scheduled based on department availability for students age 16 and older. Shadows in surgery are reserved for undergraduates and students in clinical programs.

Requirements

Orientation

An orientation to our facility is required prior to participating in a job shadow. Please review our Student Orientation Presentation and complete the Student Orientation Packet.

Immunizations

To participate in a job shadow, students must show proof of immunization.

• MMR series (or titer)
• Hepatitis B series (or titer)
• Tdap (TDP accepted)
• Date of Chicken Pox Disease or last Varicella Vaccination
• Flu Vaccination when shadow will be between October 1 and March 31
• COVID-19 vaccine (waiver request available; please contact shadow@winmedical.org for details)

Verification of Identity

To participate in a job shadow, students must submit a copy or photo of a photo ID (school or government issued ID) with the orientation packet.

Submit Your Information

It can take a few days to a few weeks to schedule your experience, so please be patient. We only schedule students who meet the orientation requirements and have submitted all required documentation:

• Completed orientation packet, with the following information included in the body of your email:
  • First and last name
  • School affiliation (if applicable)
  • Number of hours you would like to shadow
  • Days that work best with your schedule
• Proof of Immunizations
• Verification of identity
