Winneshiek Medical Center is pleased to welcome Brianne Leikvold, RN, BSN, as the director of Obstetrics at Winneshiek Medical Center.

Leikvold received her nursing education from Mount Mercy University, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  Most recently, she has served as the OB Nurse Manager at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin and Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

Leikvold says, “Obstetric nursing has always been a passion of mine.  Being a mother to young children, I have a personal understanding of how important OB teams are to families. I look forward to bringing my knowledge, experience and love for OB to Winneshiek Medical Center and serving the surrounding region.”

Winneshiek Medical Center welcomes approximately 250 newborns every year using the combined expertise of a local team of medical professionals, including Mayo Clinic Health System and Gundersen Health System family medicine physicians and surgeons, a midwife, nurse anesthetists, specially trained obstetric nurses, a lactation consultant and car seat technicians. For high-risk births, families work with their local obstetric care provider alongside specialists in larger medical facilities equipped to handle possible complications.

Kathy Moritz, chief nursing officer, Winneshiek Medical Center says, “Brianne’s experience in the Obstetric setting, coupled with her passion for the care of mother and baby, will be a great asset to our Obstetric department.  We are excited to welcome her to the team as our services to families continue to expand across the region.”

Leikvold and her husband have four children ranging from ages seven to one, and reside in Waukon, Iowa.  In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoys outdoor activities, including camping, hiking and horseback riding.
